Mattea Pechter is a multidisciplinary artist exploring temporary moments – from sunsets to trends in fashion and beauty. Through painted, digital, and sonic works, Mattea builds a universe saturated with sensuality and abandon. Her vibrant and sexy style plays with pop culture’s cycle and aims to change what we train our eyes to see.
Mattea was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where she began her fixation on hyper femininity in art at three years old. Spending most of her time under the kitchen table with a stack of scrap paper, she depicted mermaids, princesses, and stilettos obsessively and repeatedly. Today, she investigates the impact of tabloids, advertisements, editorials, and the ubiquity of art and media made about-but-not-by women on our collective consciousness. She lives in Los Angeles, CA.
